1. Acceptance of terms
By accessing or using Left Traffic — the app or lefttraffic.com — you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use Left Traffic.
2. Description of service
Left Traffic is a social platform for aviation people: sharing photos and videos of aircraft, building a profile, and following other owners and enthusiasts. Left Traffic is for informational, social, community, and entertainment purposes only. It is not an aviation safety system, maintenance-tracking tool, regulatory compliance system, or authoritative source of aircraft or airport information. See section 15.
3. Eligibility and accounts
You must be 16 or older to use Left Traffic. By creating an account, you represent that you meet this requirement.
You agree not to: impersonate another person or entity; create an account for someone else without their permission; falsely claim ownership of an aircraft, credentials, ratings, or affiliations you don't have; or use another person's account without their permission.
4. Subscriptions and purchases (not currently offered)
Left Traffic does not currently offer paid subscriptions or in-app purchases. If we introduce them, purchases will be processed entirely through Apple's or Google's in-app purchase systems, billed and auto-renewed under their terms unless canceled before renewal. Deleting your Left Traffic account will not automatically cancel an active subscription — you'll need to cancel it separately through Apple's or Google's own subscription management. This section will be updated, and where required, you'll be notified, before any paid feature launches.
5. User content
You own what you create. By posting content on Left Traffic — photos, videos, captions, comments — you keep ownership of it.
The license you grant us. To operate Left Traffic, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable license to host, store, display, reproduce, and distribute your content as part of running the app. For content you post publicly (which is most content on Left Traffic — see 5.1), this license also covers using it in Left Traffic's own marketing: social posts, App Store materials, and similar promotional use, without additional compensation to you.
We've written this as plainly as we can rather than in dense legalese, because we think you should actually understand what you're agreeing to: broadly, you're letting us show your content as part of running and promoting Left Traffic, and you keep the right to do anything else with it yourself.
Deleting a post ends the license going forward. If you delete a post, or your account, we stop using that content from that point on — except for copies already distributed before deletion (for example, in marketing material already published, or a copy retained briefly for backup purposes per our Privacy Policy). We're not going to un-publish a social post from six months ago because you deleted the underlying content today, but we will stop using it going forward.
5.1 Public by default
Most content on Left Traffic — your profile, your posts, your comments — is visible to anyone who opens the app or website, signed in or not. See our Privacy Policy for the full explanation. If you'd rather something not be public, don't post it — Left Traffic doesn't currently offer per-post or per-profile privacy controls.
6. AI-generated and synthetic content
Left Traffic is built on trust in what people share about their aircraft. Content generated or substantially altered by AI is not prohibited on its own — plenty of ordinary photo editing today uses AI-assisted tools, and clearly-identified AI art or renders (a livery concept, a restoration mockup) has a place here if it's presented as what it is.
What's not allowed is presenting fabricated or substantially AI-generated content as if it's a real photo or video of a real aircraft, livery, or event. When you post a photo or video without disclosing that it's AI-generated or substantially AI-altered, you're representing that it genuinely depicts what it appears to depict.
We do our best to catch content that violates this, but we can't catch everything — automated tools and human review both have limits, and this prohibition is enforced substantially through user reports. If you come across content you believe is fabricated and presented as real, please report it; we rely on the community to help keep Left Traffic trustworthy. We may in the future use automated tools in addition to reports and moderator review, but we don't currently guarantee any particular detection capability, automated or otherwise.
Violating this section is treated the same as any other content violation under section 8 — removal, warnings, or account action at our discretion.
7. Your responsibilities for content
You're responsible for what you post. By posting, you represent that: you own it or have the right to post it; it doesn't violate anyone's privacy, publicity, or intellectual property rights; and — per section 6 — if it depicts a real aircraft, livery, or event, it actually depicts what it claims to, or is clearly disclosed as AI-generated or substantially altered.
You agree not to post content that is illegal, defamatory, harassing, hateful, sexually explicit, threatening, or that discloses someone else's private information without their permission.
A note specific to this platform: posts often include a tail number and a location. Aircraft tail numbers are already public information through the FAA registry, but combining a tail number with a home airport, especially repeatedly, can make it easier to identify where a specific aircraft is normally kept. Be thoughtful about what you post, the way you'd be thoughtful about posting a home address anywhere public. See our Privacy Policy for more.
8. Community safety and moderation
We may remove content, restrict its visibility, or suspend or terminate an account that violates these terms, creates risk, infringes someone's rights, or harms Left Traffic or its users — at our discretion. We do not guarantee that all violating content will be removed or reviewed immediately. If you believe content violates these terms — including section 6's AI-content rule — please report it through the app.
9. Advertising and sponsorships (not currently offered)
Left Traffic does not currently run ads or use your information for advertising purposes. If that changes, we'll update these terms and our Privacy Policy before making that change, and where required by law, provide a way to opt out.
10. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use Left Traffic for any unlawful, harmful, or deceptive purpose.
- Interfere with, scrape, crawl, or overload our systems, or attempt to access another user's account or information without authorization.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the app, except where applicable law gives you the right to do so.
- Introduce malware, spam, or unauthorized advertising.
- Bypass any rate limit, access control, or content-moderation mechanism.
- Misrepresent your identity, aircraft ownership, credentials, or affiliations.
- Stalk, track, surveil, dox, threaten, or harass any person — including using content on Left Traffic to determine where someone's aircraft is kept for a purpose other than genuine aviation community interest.
- Use Left Traffic's content to train a machine-learning or AI model in a way that violates these terms or applicable law.
- Develop a competing product using data or content scraped or extracted from Left Traffic.
11. Intellectual property
Left Traffic — the app, the design, the Left Traffic name and logo, and everything on it other than user content — is owned by us or our licensors. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from it without our written permission.
Feedback. If you send us suggestions, ideas, or feature requests, you agree we can use them without restriction or compensation to you.
12. Copyright (DMCA) policy
If you believe content on Left Traffic infringes your copyright, you can submit a notice under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act through lefttraffic.com/support. Your notice should include: identification of the copyrighted work, identification of the allegedly infringing material and its location on Left Traffic, your contact information, a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is unauthorized, a statement that the information is accurate and made under penalty of perjury, and your signature (physical or electronic).
We will respond to valid notices consistent with the DMCA, including removing or disabling access to identified material and, where applicable, notifying the user who posted it. A user who believes their content was removed in error may submit a counter-notice through the same channel.
Repeat infringers may have their accounts terminated.
13. Third-party services
Left Traffic uses cloud infrastructure providers, sign-in providers (Apple and Google, if you use them), and analytics and crash-reporting providers to operate the service. If you use a pre-release build through Apple's TestFlight, that use is also governed by Apple's own TestFlight terms in addition to these. We aren't responsible for the availability, accuracy, or content of third-party services.
14. Privacy
Your use of Left Traffic is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes what information we collect and how we use it.
15. No professional or safety-critical reliance
Content on Left Traffic — including posts, captions, and comments — is user-generated and not verified by us for aviation accuracy. Left Traffic is not a source of maintenance guidance, airworthiness information, regulatory compliance information, or any other safety-critical aviation information. Don't rely on anything posted here for an actual maintenance, operational, or regulatory decision — use approved aviation tools, official sources, training, and judgment for that.
16. Termination
You can delete your account at any time from within the app. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms, create risk to Left Traffic or its users, or if we discontinue the service. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including the content license (5), disclaimers (17), limitation of liability (18), indemnity (19), and dispute resolution (20) — continue to apply after your account is terminated or deleted.
17. Disclaimer of warranties
Left Traffic is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy, or availability. We don't warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.
18. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Left Traffic will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim relating to Left Traffic will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $100.
Some jurisdictions don't allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so some of the above may not apply to you.
19. Indemnity
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Left Traffic from any claims, damages, liabilities, and costs (including attorneys' fees) arising from your use of the service, your content, your violation of these terms, or your violation of any third party's rights.
20. Dispute resolution; arbitration agreement; class action waiver
Please read this section carefully — it affects your legal rights.
Most user concerns can be resolved through lefttraffic.com/support. Please try that first.
Agreement to arbitrate. You and Left Traffic agree that any dispute arising from these terms or your use of Left Traffic will be resolved through binding individual arbitration administered by an arbitrator of Left Traffic's choosing, rather than in court, except that either party may bring an individual claim in small claims court if it qualifies.
Class action waiver. You and Left Traffic agree to bring claims only in an individual capacity, not as a plaintiff or class member in any purported class, consolidated, or representative proceeding. This waiver doesn't limit your right to seek public injunctive relief where applicable law doesn't allow that right to be waived, consistent with McGill v. Citibank.
Opt-out. You may opt out of this arbitration agreement by notifying us at lefttraffic.com/support within 30 days of creating your account, stating that you decline to be bound by it. If you opt out, disputes will proceed under section 21 (governing law and venue) instead.
21. Governing law and venue
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Where arbitration doesn't apply (including if you opt out per section 20, or for claims not subject to arbitration), you agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in California.
22. Changes to the service or terms
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of Left Traffic. We may update these terms; if we make a material change, we'll provide notice — through the app, by email, or by posting on this page — before the change takes effect. Continued use of Left Traffic after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.
